The head of the Women’s Committee at the Bahrain Journalists Association, Noura Al-Mansoori, announced the formation of her committee, which includes Taghreed Al-Alawi, Yasmine Okaidat, and Hamad Al-Shamlan.
Al-Mansoori said that the committee’s work will focus on policies related to equal opportunities, adopting methodologies that respond to women’s needs and integrate their needs.
She explained that coordination will be made with the Vocational Training Committee to shed light on women’s issues, in addition to activities related to awareness and education, which include concepts of justice and equity. The committee will be keen to build bridges of communication and networking with the relevant partners, and a mechanism will be established to monitor and measure the achievement, study the reality of women in the media field, highlight the challenges facing female journalists and media professionals, and submit the necessary proposals based on a scientific methodology.
Al-Mansoori added: “The Bahrain Journalists Association is a key partner in the field of national development, and the formation of the Women’s Committee is an organizational mechanism to activate its cultural, professional and social role in the field of journalistic work, by setting controls, standards, plans and policies to implement the principle of equal opportunities for women and men, and to achieve gender balance in consistent with the terms of reference of the association and its articles of association.
The Chairperson of the Women’s Committee pointed out that the Bahraini media has achieved pioneering achievements in achieving societal stability and supporting the process of democratic, economic and media development and comprehensive sustainable development during the prosperous reform era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and made its mark in the field of the media since the beginning of the establishment of the local press, and has contributed actively and positively to the national media.
